Pregnancy could be pretty scary if you don’t know what to
expect. Fortunately, there are tons of information on this subject, so all of your
questions can be answered on YouTube or Google. But people are forgetting one
very important thing: everybody is different. Every man and woman experience
everything in their own unique way, so don’t get scared if something doesn’t go
according to the book.
My pregnancy went pretty stereotypical, to be honest. I
started to feel nauseous and weak exactly at the time that most women do, I
also stopped feeling nauseous and weak exactly at the time that most women do.
Yet, there were a lot of things that really surprised me. Today I want to share
some of those things with you.
1.
Peeing. Yes, everybody tells you that peeing more
is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy, but nobody really tells you just how
much more it is. Personally, I felt like my body started to produce liquid out
of thin air. Have you ever experienced going to the bathroom and then needing
to go there again in a minute or so? Well, look forward to that.
A
piece of advice: try not to plan any long trips for the first two weeks or so.
First get used to your new peeing schedule.
2.
Nausea. Now, not everyone experience that one,
but for some people it could be pretty intense. Take me for example. As a kid I was pretty small, so I never used to eat much anyways. When one day I woke
up feeling nauseous it really messed up my appetite. I lost 3 kilos in 2 month,
which made me look very skinny and made me feel like I was a bad mother. So if
you are experiencing the same thing, please don’t feel guilty. Sometimes you
might feel like you are not really doing a good job, but it is not true.
Creating a human from scratch is not easy, so just remember: you are doing your
best and nobody can tell you otherwise.
By the way, nausea slowly faded away only 2
month later, so be prepared.
3.
Cravings. My entire life I loved any types of
food and could eat anything with the same amount of enthusiasm, no matter what
it was. Therefore, it was very odd, when my body started telling me “Nope, I’m
not eating this. If we are eating something it should be an apple”. Craving
food was quite fun to be honest, because I really learned to feel, what my body
and my baby were asking for.
Foods
that I couldn’t stand were: chicken, celery, cucumber and sweets along with
coffee and alcohol.
Foods
that I craved were: pasta, green apples and citruses.
4.
Sense of smell. This one is awesome! It made me
feel like a superhero or something, because suddenly I was able to smell
something others never did. I knew, which vegetables had fungus from a meter
away and could smell that terribly artificial smell in bakery.
Enjoy
this one, it is not going to last long :(
5.
Emotions. I never really noticed this one until
my husband told me about it. Apparently, hormones magnified every single one of
my emotions, so I would easily get upset and then forget about it a minute
after, slightly cute things made me cry and the things that were barely funny
made me laugh.
You
will feel confused at first, but remember: you are a woman, nobody knows more
about being emotional and keeping it under control, than you.
Now my first trimester is over and I feel wonderful. I eat
regularly and healthy, pee a lot as usual, my baby is a size of an avocado and
my belly looks like I overate in a party rather than looking pregnant. The best
month of pregnancy are coming and I can feel it.
