Bahía de Los Angeles - Guerrero Negro | Baja trip | Day 6

Guerrero Negro has always been on the list of places we must visit at some point. It offers a number of unique experiences, and I strongly recommend you to consider this place if you are going to Baja.

The new day greeted us with beautiful weather. Besides, we couldn't wait to see a new town and - hopefully - get an internet connection.

We were running a bit low on gas and used the opportunity to refill the tank. Just in case we get stuck somewhere again. Always be prepared.

The place might look a little shady, but Bahía de Los Angeles doesn't even have a proper petrol station. This lady orders gas and maybe petrol from bigger cities such as San Felipe or Mexicali. The delivery cost is so high, she barely makes money from actually selling it. So, yeah, the gas was more expensive than we expected, but you don't get to choose when supplies are scarce.

The road was beautiful, which should come as no surprise.

If you are taking that road, be especially careful near urban areas. They have a lot of stray cows everywhere.

Everyone was so thoughtful on that road - all the drivers turned on their emergency lights and were moving at ridiculously low speed to ensure that approaching cars know something hazardous is ahead.

The first thing upon arrival was to find a place to camp, have lunch and then see if we can do something fun in the remaining time.

The app said that people have camped near the lighthouse for free so we went to check it out. Here is the link to its coordinates on Google Maps.

Trust me, you do want to give this place a look if you are in the area. It's worth seeing.

It's not exactly clear whether the lighthouse is functional or not.

Nor if the sailors use this place to unload their boats.

The sights are nice and there are flat places where you can park your car for the night.

After hanging out there for a while we discovered that it's actually an abandoned cemetery.

It did give such a vibe just with the ruins alone.

And a number of old graves confirmed the suspicion.

Whether this bothers you or not is completely up to you. We don't really mind sleeping in a graveyard as long as we are not offending the feelings of people who are alive. However, we didn't end up sleeping there, but only because we stumbled upon a much better place.
Let me present to you - and I promise this is not sponsored - the greatest camping place in Guerrero Negro.

It's a little restaurant owned by the friendliest family. You can find it on iOverlander and Google Maps. The name here says "Ojo de Libre" but it's actually "Ojo de Liebre".
You might know what I'm talking about if you follow me on Instagram or watch any of our vlogs from Guerrero Negro. The deal is: if you get something from their restaurant, they let you stay in their parking lot for free. Actually, they'd probably let you stay there even if you don't order anything, cause they are so-so-sooo nice. There are available bathrooms, a shower, you are more than welcomed to use any of the plugs inside the restaurant, connect to the Wi-Fi and hang out there if you feel like it. The family has been very supportive, gave us all sorts of information about the town and treated us like family.

The place is very homey and cosy. To the point when I (social anxiety and unlimited source of awkwardness) felt comfortable to approach them and even help them put away our plates, which sparked a funny conversation.

Another very important thing to mention: Their food is exceptional! I have tried a fair share of Mexican dishes. From Tijuana, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Tapalpa, Guanajuato etc. Nowhere in Mexico have I tried something this good. I swear they know something other cooks don't or maybe you're tasting the love that they are putting in every dish, but it's to die for.

Even if you are not looking for a place to sleep, you should give their food a try. I would go as far as saying that you can skip every other restaurant in the area because nothing compares to this. Also, the prices are pretty average if not lower than any other restaurant you can find.
Anyways, don't take my one-sided opinion for the ultimate truth. Read their reviews or better visit them and find out for yourself.

That concludes our arrival to Guerrero Negro. Tune in next Thursday to see what we were up to in the following day or visit our YouTube channel (the videos are a bit ahead of the posts).
As always, thank you for reading. I hope this was of some use.
Have a great day, beautiful stranger.
